Default EFI -running rough low rpm

Help
I have an 02 efi fatboy, I changed pipes, and air cleaner, added power commander lll. the bike was running great for a month or two, however I noticed it has been harder to start as time went on. New battery, just won't catch as fast as before. All of of a sudden upon starting, the bike was coughing out the air cleaner and running extremely rough. I richened the the low & med range on the PClll, it help short term but the problem has come back. I have try adjusting the maps after talking with the tech people from PC still no luck. Harley guys don't have any answers for me. If anyone out there has some ideas I would appreciate your help.
Thanks
Tony

Check for an intake leak, they can raise heck with the running. If no help, try disconnecting the pc and see what you have then.

I have an 02 fatboy as well, 5000 miles, fuel infected, stage 1, Dealer mapping and slipons. LAte this season began having problems after about two miles of riding. When I would let off the throttle it wants to stall and I have to feather the throttle to keep it going. I added injector cleaner and seemed to be better. Also changed plugs but they looked ok. Now it does the same and stalls. If I get it started there is a lot of black smoke and hard to keep going.

Any suggestions?

How did you check for an intake leak? I am thinking it is a leak too. Spray some starter fluid or WD-40 around the intake and see if the engine speeds up. If it does, you got a leak. It's a common problem.

I'm having an identical problem with my 04 Road King. I'll check for a leak, but I'm not to confident in this being the cause. Are there any other thoughts. I did notice some oil from the crank case vent in the trottle body, but I'm guessing this is somewhat normal. Is there any recommendations on which spray throttle body cleaner is acceptable for HD.

Thanks,

Wayne

Do a fuel pressure test and see if it holds pressure when you turn it off. If it drops to zero when you power off, you have a hole in your internal line. Usually a hole in a line will seem better if you adjust your PC, but it just masks the problem as the hole gets worse.

Other tip offs, when tank in nearly empty, turn key power on and listen for fuel squirting inside tank. Another phenomenon is sometimes they will run ok with full tanks, but bad when the level goes below the line leak.

Just had this happen to me. There is a thread in the Tech section on it. Could hardly start the bike. Put in a new battery this Spring and it didn't help. Then it started acting like I fouled a plug or something. Limped it to the dealer and they did the pressure check and found I had a leak in the internal line. They said it was more common in the softails than the dressers. Hope this helps.

Thanks Guys,

I was low on fuel and it was acting up, just filled up before I started seaching the site for info on this problem. I'll watch and see if it goes away while the tank is full. Did you fix this internal leak yourself?
