Default How to test ETS?

Not having the HD break out box or scanalyzer tools is there a way to test the ETS on a 97 flh?

I have the manual, finally, but all I see is tests with the tools.

The code/light gave no info.

Read through the "surging" thread in the EVO section. On about page 3 there is a chart showing voltage vs. temperature. You could hook up a voltmeter to the sensor and dunk it in a glass of water with a thermometer and a hot water kettle handy.

I might just try that the next time my ETS goes bad.

I dunno about putting voltage to something in water.

The temperature in the ETS chart refers to ambient air temperature. You do not need to remove it to test it.

So if I understand correctly resistance is checked between 2 terminals on sensor?

As I see it I can only measure this with the engine off.

I can't check resistance with voltage at the terminals.
