Outer Primary Fitment?
Need a replacement outer primary cover for a 98 RK Anniversary. The parts list I can find specify 60665-94 or 60664-94A. I have found a good 60685-94A that was removed from a 98 RK. It all looks the same. I want to send one out for sand-blasting and powder-coating and if the 60685 will fit, I won't have to remove the one on the bike now...I can just have the 60685 refinished and make the change in one remove/install.
Do any of you parts guru's have any reason to believe the 60685 won't work? I believe that PN was specified in the 96 touring family. My 98 RK is EFI, but I see no reason why that would have any effect on the OP fitment.
I don't want to have the 60685-94A refinished only to discover it won't fit.
Reason....I have some "cancer" under the chrome on a few parts and am having these parts refinished and color-keyed to the bike.

the other part number shows similar models. so it "should" fit. if it's cheap, buy it and sell if it doesn't bolt up properly

Thanks....I don't have any reason to believe that it won't. It looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...maybe it's a duck? The 85 was "cheap" so I bought it after making sure the drain screw threads were in good shape. It had some scratches and dings, but that (at this point) doesn't matter. I was going to have one sandblasted and painted anyway. My reasoning was that if I could find a solid used one, I did not have to take the time to remove the one on the bike and send it out....being without a ride for the turn-around.
Looking at the RK Anniversary clutch parts, they appear to have advanced the 98 model year to the 99 and newer diaphragm spring configuration (6-screws hold it in place...no internal snap ring). It does have a thicker derby cover and that may make it all work if the clutch is a problem. The covers are both three-hole and are identical in appearance and mounting. This 85 came off a 98 RK, or so I was told and it had the regular sized (dome) derby cover on it.

THANKS WP!
We all know that when you get a little cancer under chromed aluminum....it becomes a worm under there that simply doesn't stop. Any bike that lives in a coastal environment can be more problematic. Once you get a scratch through the chrome, that's all it takes to ruin a chrome plated finish.
This one you made me a terrific deal on is polished aluminum and I've been seeking/changing all the chromed parts out to polished aluminum anyway. You made me a deal I could not refuse and I have a friend that's a welder. I'll just weld that oil-drain hole up and re-tap it.....can't do that to a chrome part and simply polish it out.
Thanks again!
