Front End Clunk

You're right - you did. And I told you that was exactly what I was looking for.
The problem I was having before your reply was with all of the other "answers". If you go online and look for the solution there are tons of opinions for the solution.
I was just trying to be clear about the solution.
Thanks again for getting me what I was looking for.

I have a 2009 Fatboy and read an earlier post about cranking the stem down to 75ft/lbs. I got to about 60-65 and it felt like it was going to break. So, I just stopped there, put the bars back on and it was pretty darn stiff, even to the point where it was tracking weird for the first few days. I know we're talking about FXs, but just FYI for any softail listeners in this softail thread.

Still got Clunk in front end ?
2000 Deuce.
When I get on the front brakes hard I get a clunk that seems to come from the stem area.
I have learned that this clunk is a common issue with many bikes - for different reasons.
I read an article where this was solved on Softails by HD recommending to up the torque on the steering head nut to 100ftlbs to the Softail models FXSTD/FXST/FXSTB and not the dyna family or the FLSTC/FLSTF.
What I did not find in the article is what models/years that solution was to cover.
I can find no TSB or recalls for my bike.
Anyone able to shed any light on this for me?

My 2000 Deuce always had the "clunk"
Thought it was more when bottomed or close on big bumps.
Did the fork oil change when it was new.
Funny that I never considered taking it in while under warranty?
Will have to try the main steer tube.
Needs a fork seal so thinking about the cartridge upgrade.
Really thought it was fork bushings?
