Removing Outer Primary Cover?

Removing it or polishing? To remove it, you just need a Torx 27 wrench or driver...I'd stand the bike upright to make sure you don't lose any fluid, depending on the level, although it shouldn't be a problem...my bike only holds about 32oz and it just comes up to the bottom of the clutch basket in there, but upright is safer....polishing is just a lot of elbow grease...

I guess I should have phrased that differently!
I'm going to polish up my brushed aluminum outer primary cover, which will be much easier to do if it's removed. Is there anything I need to watch out for when removing the primary cover? Fluid leaking, etc? I'll have to get the tourque specs for the bolts when I put it back on, and I'll probably get a new gasket for good measure.

the whole primary cover or do you just mean the derby cover? I'm assuming the whole thing, so in that case I would drain the fluid, otherwise youll have a mess on your hands. But if its just the derby cover stand I'd upright and you shouldn't lose any fluid.

Easy enough, drain and use a ratchet driver with the proper bit socket, slow with anything else, I have successfully reused the formed gasket but having new one on hand is cheap insurance...adjust chain (06s still have that chore?) while you are in there.
