Default 1984 FLHS paint

Working on a 1984 FLHS. Was told there were 250 black and 250 red made in 1984. mine is currently black but i can see a slight tint of red under the front fender. How can i find out the factory color? Thanks

I don't know, I don't believe the paint code is in the VIN. Have you looked underneath the fenders or underneath the tank? At least you would know the color of all the sheetmetal. Does it look like a repaint?

I think it might have been called "candy red".

The red is a metallic candy red, shot over a silver base coat if it was factory red. You would know it if you found that paint under your black.

The bike is going to be repainted so I'll look under the black and see if anything pops out
