Default Help! Intermittent running bad issue

My 2011 FLHP is running poorly between 2200-2500 rpm on an intermittent basis, usually when hot and after I've held the throttle at that rpm for awhile. It seems to be missing, but no backfiring. Almost like it's losing power, and when I open the throttle a slight lag, then the power comes on and it accelerates.

Brought it into the dealer and they can't find anything wrong because it's not doing it.

It may be a coincidence, but the night before this started happening I ran thru a very heavy rain storm for about 1 hr.

This really has me bugged. I can't take the bike on a road trip because I'm worried it will fail. Does anybody have any ideas?

HELP!

Many problems with the cable that hooks to the throttle body. Disconnect and inspect pins. Apply dielectric grease and give it a try. Any codes? This probably won't fix the issue, but it is activity. When I had problems with this cable, bike went into limp mode.

Blow some air in your fuse box and check for moisture or green corrosion. Dielectric grease helps.

Make sure none of the vacuum caps are off on the throttle body also. If you have a tuner you may need to richen it up a little in that area. Pretty common when it gets hot. Or could have another vacuum leak. It is lean is the problem.

Default lean

So I talked to my tuner yesterday, and he thinks that the summer blend gas is part of the problem. He said he has had bikes that he tuned 2 yrs ago running different today than back when he tuned them. He also thinks I may have developed a vacuum leak. He started the bike and immediately sprayed some fluid in the manifold area....the bike responded.....then he did it again a few times and nothing. Weird. So next saturday I'm bringing it in and he's going to check the seals and throw it up on the dyno to probably richen it up a bit.

I'll post my results after it gets fixed.

Default update

Took it to the dealer last saturday. Jim Egizio the engine builder over at Illinois HD threw it up on the dyno and he noticed the front exhaust flange was loose. He suspected that it was sucking air. He tightened it up and checked the tune. Noticed it was actually running a tad rich over 3k so he adjusted it. He told me to ride it and see what happens, but that the loose fron exhaust was probably the problem.

Ran it a couple dundred miles this past weekend and the bike ran fine. I'll keep an eye on the exhaust flanges in the future, and more miles will tell me if this was the fix but it sure looks like it is.

Moral of the story........check those exhaust flanges once in awhile!
