Thanks for the welcomes and for the encouragement to spend more money.

I have a few questions.

Mojo – What brand/size of bag do you have in front of the voltage regulator?

I’ve been looking at buying another seat. I was going to buy a Badlander but have started looking at the Corbin Gunfighter. Does anyone have experience with both or comments on either?

The work so far is going slow. I had to order the service manual so I’m holding off on the chrome forks until it comes in. Sears was sold out of the yellow jack so I can’t install the lowering kit or the rocker covers until it comes in. I’m still waiting on the V&H pipes to get here so I’m also holding off on the chrome on the right side of the engine so I can do it all at once.

Maybe I’ll get this round of accessories done before the weather clears up.

A friend gave me the bag when I first bought the bike......it's a Harley bag but I don't know what size. It's a few years old.
I have both the Gunfighter and the Hollywood Solo from corbin and they are both terrific saddles.
The Gunfighter seems hard at first, but really it just has to break in a bit and the firmness keeps your butt from riding on the frame rails creating 2 pressure points. The firm seat spreads the weight of your body over the entire area so there are no pressure points. I've ridden mine 360 miles only stopping for gas with no "sorebutt". Expensive but good. mine also has the optional backrest which is great for long trips. The saddle and backrest were pretty close to $700.

Here's some good before & after shots of mine. You can take a STD to any level you want too.
I loved it when I bought it & then the cancer  started spreading as my buddy would say. He was right!

Red Jack is cheaper and a very good jack never heard anything wrong with it Ive heard some bad about the yellow and it twice as much do a search on it

Go to ebay and buy a badlander seat for $30 and youll be very happy.  Badlander is great on my back in my opinion I have rode a gunfighter but I like the look alittle more of the badlander and the support theres also a ton on ebay for vertually nothing.

there a neat bike have fun man

hdpearson,
thats a good point about the badlander seat being available for a reasonable price.  Theres a guy in my town that does seat work.  I just had my gf's deluxe seat narrowed down.  We had him put studs on both front and rear pcs and heat shields added to the front section.  Also i had a few studs put on my seat.  Total cost was 100 bucks.  Couldnt believe the difference it made to the look of the seats !  Next swap meet i get to I might just get the badlander and dress it up a bit.

ohiosofttial06,
bikes looking good man.  Looks like you attended the London ontario hog rally last summer.  Seemed like pretty low attendance to me, but i guess i was expecting a small daytona rally or something.

Rainin here today but wash and wax in the morning and mid 50's thru the weekend ! Yahoooo finally gonna be out for a first ride !!

cheers

Alright, I know I said I was going to post these pics forever ago but I JUST found my cable to connect the camera to the computer.  So here they are.

Changes are:  Black dash, chrome cam cover, SE Heavy Breather, Tri-bar rear light, smoked signals, and sidemount plate.

I think progressive 422's and a LePera Bare Bones are next.  Well, after I buy a new derby cover to go with my chrome primary cover that still needs installed.  Think I'm getting the Willie G. Skull derby cover.

Thanks guys.

The sidemount plate is one that i made.  I work at a shop with an ironworker so I was able to cut and bend and punch holes.  I just modeled it after others I had seen.  Then I primed it, painted it, and cleared it.  I left some extra space at the top to mount a light incase I ever get pulled over for it.

Okay, I'm really gonna feel like a dumbass for asking this.

When I did the install of my heavy breather, there was a plate with two screws behind the aircleaner.  I thought it would need removed but the instructions didn't say too.  It started and ran fine, but today it was starting to chug and actually stalled out.

Do I need to remove this plate.  I really don't see where the air goes in now.  HELP!!!

Can you post a pic of the plate you're talking about? Did the bike run OK for awhile then stall?

Take the cone filter element off and you should see an unobstructed view of the flap on the throttle body. If there is anything closing off the chrome elbow, remove it.

Hi guys,
Well I finally was able to get some work done to the bike last weekend. Here are a couple of pics.
Here is what it looked like before:

and here it is finished, I wanted to get some daytime shots this weekend but it decided to snow Friday night and
Saturday...so no riding this weekend.

I liked the looks of the black Softail Custom tins and picked up a set off fleabay back before Christmas.
I also broke down a bought a tri bar taillight, they sure do look nice and are very bright.
I had a smoked taillight with a led bulb but everyone I rode with said that they could hardly see it so that's another reason for upgrading the tailight. I installed a crome regulator cover and a new derby cover while I was at it.
I had done the Stage 1, BBS pipes, and rear lowering kit last summer.
Next on the list is a new seat and maybe a set of apes.
I still haven't decided on what seat to get but have narrowed it down to a couple of choices, but I'm liking the Saddlemen Renegade Sport.

Hey mojo-

Does the injection flap fasten on with 2 small phillips screws?  if so, that's what I thought could be causing the problem.  It seemed to run okay today but still worried about it.

yep that's the butterfly for the throttle body, leave it alone! It may have been just an anomolous stall. Make sure you've got fresh fuel and all your connections from recent mods are secure.

Thanks Mojo, future plans include a new seat and some bars, I'm thinking of some 14" apes maybe.I also like the heavy breather but will have to wait and see on how much more I can do this season.

Ecoli,
hope you got your breather issue fixed.  Hey if your looking to light your plate eventually i saw a post a while back about lighted bolts for a licence plate bracket.  Could be an easy way around a ticket.

Rabbit your bike looks good in black.  (but then you might say i'm a bit partial)
I always wondered why harley left the oil tank black on the standard instead of colour matching it to the bike.

Had a sunny, mild weekend here.  Spent sat polishing then sunday out for a blast with the gf.  Heres a pic of the bikes together.  What do you guys think about the studs on the stock HD seat on my standard?  Ya, no ??  Pulled the fork reflectors off too, i think it looks better without them.

cheers

Your GF's bike looks good too! My wife is a little scared of bikes, especially on the highway. Nice to have a significant other who's in to it......always have someone to ride with!
Fork reflectors gone

Seat studs work for now I say, but if you go more of a pro-street look in the future you'll have to pan 'em. Depends on what look you go for. For now they look fine.
