View Full Version : Meet and greet in Bay/Sac area
BiggestDawg 03-08-2008, 01:19 AM The mascot is getting ready to move up into the Bay/Sac area. Keep your eye's open for more information. I expect that Grover and Jaybob07 and probably a couple others will team up and bring it to a yet to be determined location in the Bay/Sac area. It would be a good time to meet other forum members before it continues its journey north into the PacNW.
Jaybob07 03-11-2008, 08:28 PM I'm up for meeting anywhere. I was thinking of none other than a Harley shop up in the Sac area. Are there any other suggestions?
Homee 03-11-2008, 09:51 PM Meeting in Sac is ok with me. there are two area HD dealers here. One in Elk Grove off of Hwy 99 and the other is off business 80 on Arden way.Just name a time, meet & greet and I can push the mascot up to Redding from there. Or I can come south and meet. Unless anybody else wants to join in.
Jaybob07 03-11-2008, 10:45 PM I'm still waiting to hear back from tuffsporty and grover on when and where to meet up at. So far we dont have a date. Either HD shop would be good for me. If my wife is with me she mentioned something about going and eating at Joe's Crab Shack. We have one back home in Texas but have not been there for a few years now so that would be our plans, ride up, meet and greet, lunch and then head home.
OdiousBarbarian 03-12-2008, 01:51 AM no reason why I wont be able to at least make it to the meet
lil_gmac2 03-12-2008, 11:25 PM Count me in also. I would love to me up with some of the fellow forum members.
Homee 03-13-2008, 11:32 PM Tuffsporty, Grover & Jbob07, help me to understand the logistics of what is going on.
From the strings I have read; Tuffsporty has the mascot? Grover is to get it from Tuffsporty and hand off to Jbob07. It looks like Grover will have a lot of riding to do to pass it to Jbob07? More power to Grover!
I am looking at a map of California. Tuffsporty (in Paso Robles) and Jbob07 (in Lemoore) are about a Mornings ride apart (70-80 miles). Grover in Bakersfield is about 105- 110 miles South East of Paso Robles. Are all of you going to meet in a central location and move it north together or is Tuffsporty going to meet Grover somewhere and Grover meeting Jbob07 and then move it north?
Not trying to start any trouble here or prevent Grover from volunteering and putting is signature on the mascot but sounds like something TS can so on a ½ day run to Lemoore. This is assuming that Grover is in Bakersfield.
Then of course there is the strong possibility that I am all screwed up here and missed some strings or complete threads but does that about some it up?
Jaybob07 03-13-2008, 11:53 PM Hey Homee, I just got a email from TS. The plan as of right now is for all of us to meet up in one local, have lunch and stuff on Monday. The only thing is I work nights and have to be at work at 1600. I work Sunday through Thursday, off Friday and Sat and back to work Sunday night. Now the thing isI got an email from BiggestDawg saying that Terrry1955 is wanting in on the move.IfI get the Mascot on Monday, thenI'm going to have to wait to hear from Terry to find out when he can make the run. If we moveit during the week I'm thinking ofmeeting up in Stockton because of limited time for me to get back to work. If itsFriday or Saturday then I can make it all the way up to Sac. Hope this helps clear the air.WhenIhave more infoI'll be posting it up.
Jaybob07 03-14-2008, 12:17 AM Update, Terry was wanting Grover to get in on the Meet and greet and not Terry himself. So its just me that is makeing the run if Tim and Grover do not want to head north.
I dunno...being totally unfamiliar with CA and just looking at the "triangle", it seems like you three could meet in Kettleman City at the intersection of I-5 and Hwy 46 sometime around 11-11:30ish? Have no clue if it's a rathole of a place, but it's at an intersection that's the most common to all of you. 25 miles from Jaybob07 (you did say you had to be at work at 1600, right?) 57 miles from TS, and Grover's got the short end of the stick at around 78 miles. Since TS and Grover seem ok to do it on Monday, neither of them have to be anywhere else in particular that day, so it's a short day trip for both of them. I'll admit, though, Bakersfield to Sac is a nice little haul! But it's a short push from Lemoore.
I'm sure you have it all ironed out by now, though, so whatever you do, I hope it works out for you. I'm riding about 250 miles tomorrow, so I'll be out of the net for a couple of days, but I'm routing for y'all down here in Texas!

BiggestDawg 03-14-2008, 10:38 AM This is the story. Many moons ago the admins of the HDF got together via the great internet and decided that it would be great to have a mascot. Then they decided that it would be great if the members of the HDF could move the mascot from place to place on Harley Davidson motorcycles only. It was decided that each member of the forum that was able to visit or carry the mascot should sign the mascot and have their picture taken with it. So for many days, weeks, months and a couple of years or so the mascot has traveled around the country. Recently interest in the mascot has become weak over the winter months and the mascot did not move very much. Now interest has grown again and the mascot prepares to move. The mascot is near one of the admins, Grover, that helped to conceive the mascot and it must be blessed by the admin so that the mascot can start its journey into the north and then back to the east. This has been ordered by the great admin Terry1955. Many in the north await the visit of the mascot and some of us have risen to the call to get the mascot back on its travels. There will be many stories to be told at the camp fires of the mascot warriors for many moons to come.
Jaybob07 03-15-2008, 10:31 AM Good post Virgil. Update. I got a PM from Tim out in Paso. He and Grover are going to be meeting up on Monday to pass off the Mascot. Grover is wanting to take it back into the Bakersfield so other members in the area can sign it and stuff as well and then get with me for the hand off to head up north. Do not know how long he is going to have the Mascot so I have no idea of when I'm going to be pushing it up north. Hopefully soon cuz I have been chompen at the bit to hit the road.
Grover 03-15-2008, 11:32 AM The current plan is I am meeting with TuffSporty (Tim) Monday at noon at the Penny Saloon in McKittrick. Hope the weather is better 'cause I have snow going on in my front yard right now! Tim will be riding Hwy 58 from the coast and I will ride Hwy 58 from the east.
I am off duty for 9 days on my long days off so the Monday thing doesn't bother me. I am heading for Las Vegas Sun-Tues. Back on duty Wed - Thurs, the 26 & 27, off Fri Sat. Mar 28-29 Jaybob do either of those days work for you?
Jaybob07 03-16-2008, 10:31 AM I can meet up with you on the 28th so I can head up to the Sac area on the 29. Now this is if I don't have a watch or anything, which I shouldn't. We could meet up somewhere in the middle like you and Tim are doing. I trying to find where you live on the net and it says that you live out in the middle of now where so PM me when you get back from Vegas and we can plan from there.
Ok guys from the north. Not much longer and the Mascot is going to be heading up your way.

I was aware of the bare basics, but I didn't realize the importance of Grover getting the Mascot for more than justamere hand-off. I knew he needed to get it, and Terry1955 ordered it,but I didn't fully understand WHY. Now I know. Thanks.

I just got back from my little weekend trip to Shreveport/Bossier City, LA, so that's why I'm late responding to this. It seems as though the situation is under control. Now I'll go back to lurkingso as tokeep this thread for the Sac/Bay area meet and greet. I'll be keeping up with it, and thanks again for the great explanation. I have a lot of old posts to read about the Mascot, now!:D

Grover 03-16-2008, 04:29 PM I got up this morning and there is 2" of snow on the ground.
I will be a nice ride in the morning to meet with TuffSporty. That makes it all worth while.
Jaybob07 03-16-2008, 07:02 PM Hopefully I will be able to meet up with you and Tim tomorrow, depending on what is going on at my end. He said that yall are meeting up at noon so if I make it I have to be out of there by 1300 so I can come back and get ready for work. Hopefully the wind is calmer.
Grover 03-16-2008, 08:13 PM Hope you can be there.:)
It's snowing out my window at the moment.[:@]
Jaybob07 03-16-2008, 08:36 PM Well hopefully you can make it out of your drive way tomorrow. I guess I will try and make it there incase you cant show up that way the Mascot keeps moving.
Terry1955 03-17-2008, 03:47 PM I talked to Grover this morning when he was getting ready to leave. It was 27 degrees and he was dressing in layers. He said it was suppose to be 67 degrees at the meet sight. I hope it warmed up for him.

I've ridden in weather that cold before. Didn't like it. I hope it warmed up for him.
Jaybob07 03-17-2008, 08:21 PM It warmed up a bit. Although when I left the house it was in the hi 40's. Of course runen down the hiway at 80-85 it seams alot colder than that. But anyway, I made it down there and met up with Grover and TuffSporty. We had lunch and talked for a little bit, took some pics, and then tryed to leave. I noticed that somehow the stud that held my back left blinker had been snaped in half. So TS had some waterweld and stuck it back together, held up pretty well on the ride home. Anyway Grover and I started off and when we go to my turn off we pulled over and he handed me the Mascot. He was not sure when he was going to be able to get it back to me so I took it as he said "Get it up north." So thats what I'm going to do. I was thinking of trying to make it up there to the Sac area this weekend. Going to start a new thread for it.
Grover at least signed it, didn't he?

Jaybob07 03-17-2008, 10:35 PM Yes he did. I'm at work or I would put a pic. TuffSporty has already signed it and then I'm going to put mine down up in Sac with everyone else that shows up.
