I love the mountains in the spring.... BUT, wydopin is correct, be ready for all sorts ot weather. Rain will not last long, but it will rain on you. I have had snow at my place up ther in May...
Don't let a liitle rain scare ya off tho, it is fantastic up there this time of year. Everything is blooming, I love it. I was supposed to head up there this week, but I ended up here in Mount Dora working on my Mom's house.
When you head up that way, where will you be staying?
We just came back from a beautiful trip to the Smokies and then down to a cabin in Elijay, GA. Dude, everybody, just a general note, if you're staying in a cabin, be damn sure you get the layout of the cabin approach and exit. I had some major stress on a couple of occasions trying to negotiate getting into and out of the highly sloped driveway of the cabin we stayed in there in Elijay. However, in the Smokies, we stayed at the Hampton Inn and loved it; the address is 185 Tsalgi Road Cherokee, NC. Sure, we got rained on in NC and it was a little cold, but it was all worth every bit of any hassle the weather could cause. Most places around the Smokies open up whenever they feel like it, evidently, but we found the Huddle House just down the road that's open all night, I think, or else opens very early as we were there eating breakfast in the mornings by 6:00 am at the latest. Man, NC is so worth the trip, excusing the Casino and the eye-sore that it is. The only rude people we met while up there were those who came for the lousy casino. The Elijay cabin, on the other hand, taught us the extremely important lesson of getting all the info you need to determine if a street bike like a Touring Harley can safely negotiate the sometimes very steep inclines of some cabin parking approaches...whew! damn! shizznit! mother #!@$^*! The Buell model that works for off-road as well as street would have been the ticket. We had an unbelievably good time in all.
