I'm looking to replace mounting bolts on the front brakes on my 83 XLX. The boltsare allen wrench heads and are getting rounded off so bad that they're difficult to remove/install. I would like to replace all four bolts (dual front brakes....two per side) Anybody know where to get those bolts? I'll post some pics if necessary. Thanks for any help

I see. Not a bad price. I'll probably pick up a set. Thanks. Nice 83 XLX you've got there.

So I had to use an Easy Out to get one of my caliper mounting bolts out because the allen wrench hole became a circle. I tried to JB weld the allen wrench in, but it was too round inside to work. I'm ordering some new bolts now.
Somehow I missed this thread but the first place I try to replace anything is Ace Hardware. Not all of them are equal but if it's a really good one andyou don't mind SS instead of chrome, they are much cheeper that the special order ones.

Actually I would prefer NOT to have chrome bolts.

Me too, but there's not much choice other than trying to get stock replacements through HD. I don't think you'd find bolts like these at Ace Hardware - they are shouldered almost all the way to the end, with a very short thread. The shoulder has to be exactly the right diameter and length to let the calipers slide to center on the rotor without binding. They're also slightly different lengths - two are a little longer than the other two.
