Been going up there my whole life, so I have a reasonable bearing. Going up again with my brother-in-law for a few days. Long story short: Going up on the 4th with the family in tow. Family going home on Tuesday, leaving me Tuesday through Thursday to turn some miles.
Last time I dragged him up there, hit most of the Vilas/Oneida stuff, took the long route (Superior Circle Route) to Superior, WI and back the "short way" through Ashland, etc.
This time, I'm thinking Hayward (Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame) one day, Lake in the Clouds (U.P., Porcupine Mountains) and some of the falls (Bond, etc.) on 45 on the way back another and... Gee, I thought I had a third trip in mind...
Anyway - "Base" is in Boulder Junction where my brother and his wife will be also. He's bringing his bike up, but he's not much of a 'rider' if you get my meaning. Just wondering if I'm missing any obvious scenic/interesting routes... I've probably putted my way around most of the north woods area myself, so I figure 'points of interest' would be a good thing... Maybe stopping by the Hodag Festival in Rhinelander...
I'm up for suggestions if anyone has anything interesting in mind.
