Is green an unlucky color?
A co-worker and I were browsing on HDTrader the other day at lunch and we came across a RK Classic with the black/green paint scheme. I think that is an awesome paint job on a Harley but he said he would never own a scoot that was painted green. He mentioned something about an old wives tale or superstition or something that says green is an unlucky color on a motorcycle. Totally blew my mind, I've never heard anything like that before. Not that it would ever stop me from buying a bike with green paint on it, but I was just wondering if anyone else had heard this before?

I think it was because alot of the early race cars such as MG's, Austin Healey's etc were painted british racing green. Because these cars offered little or no protection accidents were often fatal to the drivers. I believe early motorcycle racers took the color green to be a bad omen because of this. The general public went along with this and for years no one ever painted their bike green. If you look at any old sales literature for, Harley, BSA, Triumph, Norton, and even Honda you wont find green being offered as a stock factory color. The first bike I can remember to break the legend or myth and paint their bike green right out of the box was Kawasaki. If I am wrong about any of this someone please correct me..................BG
