Harley-Davidson & Lockheed Martin Honor the USS Milwaukee
Harley-Davidson and one of the nation’s biggest defense contractors, Lockheed Martin, have created a special and one-of-a-kind motorcycle. Even better, it will soon be auctioned off to benefit the National Military Families Association charity group.
The 2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S was commissioned by Lockheed Martin over a year ago, to celebrate the company’s involvement with the littoral combat ship, the USS Wisconsin. After being unveiled alongside USS Milwaukee at the U.S. Navy’s Marinette shipyard, the motorcycle toured the country to raise awareness for the challenges military families face.
“We commissioned this motorcycle in honor of the USS Milwaukee and the men and women of the U.S. Navy, so it is appropriate that this custom Harley-Davidson will contribute to various efforts that support military families,” said Stephanie Hill, Lockheed Martin vice president of Cyber, Ships and Advanced Technologies. “Because about a quarter of Lockheed Martin’s employees are themselves veterans, NMFA’s mission strongly resonates with me and our company, and we are naturally proud to support such a worthy organization.”
Sporting the blue and white naval colors reminiscent of WWII-era war machinery, the Softail Slim S is a gorgeous custom motorcycle in its own right. Now, you have a chance to bid on it, take it home, and donate a great deal of money to a phenomenal cause. It sounds like an overall win-win to me!
The live auction is scheduled for December 10 at the Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. You can also bid online now.
