Harley-Davidson unveils the highly anticipated Pan America 1250 and Pan America Special adventure touring motorcycles.

Harley-Davidson’s long-awaited and highly anticipated Adventure touring bike, the Pan America is finally here. The Milwaukee-based motorcycle manufacturer introduced two variants of its new Pan America nameplate earlier this week. The two models are called Pan America 1250 and 1250 Special, both of which are powered by a 150 HP Revolution Max 1250 engine. The 1250cc V-Twin motor is liquid-cooled and has been integrated into the motorcycle’s chassis as a central member.

Jochen Zeitz, chairman, president, and CEO of Harley-Davidson shared his thoughts on the new models, “From its inception more than a century ago, when many roads were little more than dirt trails, Harley-Davidson has stood for adventure. So I’m very proud to present Pan-America as the first adventure touring bike designed and built in America.”

Zeitz further added, “The Pan America models exude that go-anywhere spirit, shared today by riders in the US and around the globe who want to experience the world on a motorcycle.”

Harley-Davidson proudly disclosed that the company focused on minimizing the weight of the two motorcycles, which is why the 1250’s wet weight stands at just 534 lbs and 1250 Special’s wet weight is rated at 559 lbs. Both bikes come equipped with several electronically controlled ride modes and cornering rider safety enhancements. The bikes also get electronically adjustable semi-active front and rear suspension.

Both models also get an industry-first innovation which is their adaptive ride height feature. This innovation automatically augments the suspension setup to offer a low-speed position and optimal ride height, depending on the situation’s requirement. The company describes the styling of the two motorcycles as “function leads the form.”

This is best emulated by bike’s signature horizontal headlamp, which has been designed to optimally illuminate the more challenging terrains. Both motorcycles ride on cast-aluminum wheels and get a 19-inch rim at the front and a 17-inch wheel at the rear. Harley Davidson commissioned Brembo to design an all-new braking system for its latest offerings. The bikes get radial monoblock four-piston 30mm caliper units, which are made to a single 280mm rear brake rotor and a 320 mm dual front brake rotor.

Harley-Davidson has confirmed that both Pan America 1250 and 1250 Special will start arriving at dealerships across the country in spring later this year.
