Harley Davidson’s Dark Custom Line

By -

Harley Davidson’s Dark Custom line of motorcycles was introduced in 2008 as the company’s attempt to gain the attention of a younger, hipper customer base. The bikes are trendy with their pitch black paint and traditional designs. There are seven different bikes to choose from in this Dark Custom line.

Forty Eight

The Forty Eight is one of Harley’s newer models, making its debut in 2011. The bike is a slim line style that pulls the tank design from 1948, hence the name. The peanut shaped tank is small but powerful with the bike’s brand logo on the side. It has a blockhead 1200cc Evolution engine first marketed in 1984. The bike handles well with its lowered front and rear suspension. The controls are forward mounted, so there is plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy a comfortable ride. Other little details add to the style such as hidden technology, undermount mirrors, and drag style handlebars. Starting price is $10,499 for the standard options.

The Nighster was also introduced to the dark custom line in 2011, and has a starting price of $9,999. The bike has the blacked out look, and comes accented in wide choice of colors. The engine is gray with 1200cc of power. The seat is only 25.7 inches high, great for riders of all sizes and shapes. The speedometer is in the center of the handlebars, with above mounted mirrors.

The front end is old school with its low rise handlebars and forks with gators. The peanut shaped tank angles down into the seat giving the bike a sleek look from beginning to end. Both wheels are 13″ spoke cast aluminum wheels. The bike is known for its black paint from front to back.
