Harley Stolen Right Out of Man’s Garage — in Broad Daylight!
Brazen theft has cops suggesting bikers invest in GPS trackers, Lo-Jacks.
Typically, when you shut your garage door, you probably aren’t too worried about losing what’s inside. But every so often we hear about thieves who steal vehicles and other valuables from these enclosed spaces. What we don’t often see are thieves brazen enough to do so right in the middle of the day. But that’s exactly what happened to an Elkhart County, Indiana, man when he returned home to find his prozed possession — a Harley Fat Boy — stolen.

Like most of us, Jerry Boomershine reserved a special space in his garage for his Fat Boy. And he probably thought it was safe, despite learning that both his house and his neighbor’s house had been broken into over the last year. But while he was at work one day, thieves pried open the garage door, rolled the bike out, and proceeded to pull it down a busy road with a car.
The fearlessness of the thieves might actually come back to bite them, however. WNDU reports that several people witnessed the incident, including some of Boomershine’s neighbors. Plus, at least one nearby business might have caught video of the getaway on their surveillance cameras. Hopefully it will be enough to catch the thieves before the bike is long gone.
Because motorcycles are easier to hide than cars, police recommend GPS trackers or Lo-Jack service to aid in recovery. And judging by this story, you might want to invest in some sort of garage alarm as well.
