An Italian Princess Is ‘Lucky To Be Alive’ After Crashing Her Harley-Davidson and Going Into a Coma
Italian Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon went into a coma after crashing her Harley-Davidson into a wall.
Celebrities ride Harley-Davidsons, Ducatis, Yamahas, and Triumphs. Celebrities, sure. But have you heard of a princess swinging a leg over a cruiser and hitting the open road? For Italian Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon, riding a Harley is just part of the equation. She seems to love all things awesome and motorized. Hell, Princess Carolina has a picture on her Instagram standing arm-in-arm with Scuderia Ferrari F1 racing driver Charles LeClerc.
Unfortunately for the motorcycle-riding royal, she hit a wall on her Harley-Davidson. This was no oopsie impact, either. Princess Carolina posted on social media that she ended up in intensive care and a coma. I’m incredibly lucky to be alive. I crashed headfirst into a wall whilst riding a motorcycle and ended up [in a coma] in the Intensive Care Unit,” she wrote in the post. “Surviving this was nothing short of a miracle,”
Importance of Good Gear
Gracious as ever, the Italian princess used the opportunity to personally endorse the importance of motorcycle safety gear. “I wanted to share my own experience as I’ve realized now more than ever that motorcycles are powerful and thrilling, but also unforgiving,” she posted. “Please ride with care. Wear full protection, especially a proper helmet. Mine saved my life. Words to live by and ride with, for sure. Rich or poor. Famous or not. The pavement doesn’t care. A helmet is a must. As for the bike, I can’t imagine she’ll be riding that particular one anytime soon. She has a picture on her Instagram of herself aboard a Harley-Davidson FLSTN Softail Deluxe near a French cafe. But the princess didn’t mention which Harley-Davidson she was riding at the time of the wreck.
