If you haven’t been on a new Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle prior to 2014, the Project RUSHMORE Experience was made especially for you. It gives riders the opportunity to check out the latest touring motorcycles with virtual and real life testing.

All of this would not be possible without the research and feedback from Harley owners everywhere over the past couple of years. The new motorcycles are better than ever with modern upgrades from top to bottom and everything in between. They are also a hell of a lot of fun to ride too and are made to go the distance in comfort and style.

Anyone can experience the virtual ride on an actual touring bike that you can fire up and crank the throttle as the rear wheel spins on a stationary roller.

In front of you are huge, curved monitors that can be set to give you the illusion of a motorcycle ride through downtown Milwaukee, the Grand Tetons or another road of your choosing.

The effect is pretty cool and there is even a smoke machine that allows you to see how the air circulates around the Batwing vents and motorcycle. Staff is also on hand to answer any questions you may have about the latest technological advancements and options available on the new models.

Other models are on display, including previous generation motorcycles and accessories that demonstrate the upgrades and advancements available in the newer Project Rushmore machines. There are now 13 models to choose from (up from eight in 2014) including the CVO Road Glide Ultra to the Tri Glide Ultra. There is definitely something for everyone to choose from.

I recently had the opportunity to check out the display at the New Hampshire Speedway during Laconia Bike Week and was thoroughly impressed. I also had the opportunity to ride a 2016 Road King around the track at full speed. It was a blast.

There are plenty of touring, street and sport Harleys on hand for riders to check out first hand and you can even schedule test rides to compare the bikes.

There are also hands-on displays that show the upgraded one-touch hard saddlebags and trunk, touch screen or toggle infotainment systems and my favorite – a dissected Twin-Cooled High Output Twin Cam 103 engine.

You can really see all of the impressive details of this incredible engine inside and out and see how the well hidden cooling system in the lower fairing circulates coolant through the heads and keeps the heat away from you. Amazing stuff.
