Stunning Harley Chopper Combines American Muscle with Swedish Style
‘Viridian’ Harley chopper, a scratch built Swedish creation with a decidedly vintage American influence.
If you ever doubt the pure scope and breadth of the Harley-Davidson brand, simply take a quick look overseas. From Asia to the deserts of the Middle East, the H-D influence runs deep. What exists as one of the most deeply rooted American companies of all time offers a product that no one, regardless of their geographic location, can resist.
A perfect example of this lies before your eyes right now. Take one look at this Harley chopper, and you’d think it was built by a guy name Joe in a Southern California garage. But you’d be very, very wrong. The stunning ride was actually constructed by a guy named Mika Nieminen, or as he’s better known, “Mr. Moore.” And he’s not from sunny California, but rather icy Finland. We caught the incredible bike on eBay, where it was offered for sale for the very first time since its completion.
Moore built the chopper as part of a team effort with Swedish magazine MCM. The two documented the entire build process in the pages of the magazine between 2003 and 2005. They built the bike quite literally from scratch, from the initial design to the boatload of one-off parts. But the “finished” product is a proper, old school hot rod Harley chopper.
Custom bent steel tubing forms the one-off frame, with a modified Zodiac Springer up front. The hand made fuel tank features a billet brass fuel cap and ignition switch. And of course, power comes in spades from a highly modified 1550cc S&S shovelhead. Everywhere you look, you’ll find a number of interesting custom touches that make this bike truly unique.
Turns out, you can make a distinctly American custom even if you’re nowhere near America. And if this custom chopper isn’t the ultimate testament to Harley’s global influence, we don’t know what is.
