Valerie Thompson Becomes World’s Fastest Woman on a Motorcycle
American NHRA racer Valerie Thompson has become the world’s fastest female motorcycle racer after averaging a speed of 304 mph and hitting a top speed of 313 mph in the “7” Streamliner designed by Denis Manning at the 2016 Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials.
A multiple land speed record-holder already, Thompson is no stranger to the salt flats, she currently holds multiple land speed records including one she set last year on a BMW S1000RR.
After three mandatory license-qualification runs, Thompson barrelled down the salt flats achieving two runs over 294 and 304 mph. Thompson’s highest exit speed exceeded 313 mph, earning her the Top Speed of the Event Award and the title of “World’s Fastest Female Motorcycle Racer.”
“I’ve dreamed about this since I first started racing. This would never have happened without Denis Manning and team owners, John Jans and Joe Harralson. I can’t thank them and the entire Team “7” Racing crew members enough for all their hard work during the competition,” said an enthusiastic Thompson.
These speeds are nothing short of unbelievable and you can see for yourself in this on-board footage that the speedo touches 313 mph before scaling back down.
