Finally got my bike. Put it away last fall and had the dealer put on a new crossover, pipes, CB, lighted controls, etc. Decided it was time to start using the headset.
Put the speakers in my helmet, microphone on the helmet, plugged it in.....nothing. Made sure the boombox was set to headset and not speaker. I can hear stereo, iPod, static from CB through speakers, but nothing through he headset.
If you have "toggled" to the headset setting it should work. If all audio is coming thru the speakers it sounds like a boombox issue. Run it to the dealer and might be a quick fix or setting issue.
It might be that you have muted your headset. Go to the boom box on line - looks at the menu function - see item number 7 or 25 - talks about headset being muted.

You have to toggle the sound of each to the headset...
Yeah, did this. Have all three set on headset, and the little headset shows up on the lower menu bar. Called the dealer, taking it in Thursday. They think it needs to be flashed.

After toggling the outputs to the headset, you'll need to turn up the volume for each function for the headset. Volume levels for speakers vs headset are independant of each other for each source; ie music volume for speakers is different than music volume for front headset vs music volume for rear headset. That is, music source has 3 separate volume settings it remembers for the 3 different outputs.
I had a headset problem recently also on a new headset. Plugged it all in and nothing. Checked all the settings and all was good. checked the plug that goes to the headset and it looked fine. Pushed that plug in with a little more force and it worked. Seems that the contacts for the plug that goes to the helmet side are a little sensitive on mine. Double check that.
Hopefully your problem is a simple fix, but I suspect the issue is with the BoomBox software. I was having a problem with the GPS functionality - primarily, I could not save any destinations. Regardless what I did, when I went to "saved locations" - nothing.
When I brought the bike in for it's 1,000 mile service, I listed this on the punch list. Naturally, the technicians listed the problem as "user error" [like I never programmed a GPS before], but "flashed" the unit and, lo & behold, I was able to save locations.
Had the bike out this past weekend. GPS was now working fine, but mid-ride, listening to the radio thru the headset, station suddenly cut out. I assumed I merely lost signal, so I tried switching to "media" - still nothing [including voice commands]. Eventually I pulled over and switched back and forth between speakers and headset - speakers worked fine; headset nada. Travelled a bit further and stopped for gas. When I turned the bike on and put on my helmet, "media" was now playing thru the headset. This on again, off again continued several more times. My conclusion is something is now wrong with the audio. I will be returning it to service and report back with an update.

My update: took it in to the dealer yesterday. After waiting for 2 hours they knew that the problem was not just a flash. Went home. Called late yesterday afternoon. No word, they said they would have to call Harley today. Now 4:15 pm here and no word at all. Guess it's a lot more involved than they first suspected! Will keep you updated.
