2014 FLHXS lower?
just wonderin out loud, anyone have any experience lowering your SGS? Only 5'7" Not 100% as comfortable at a stop or in slow traffic as I was with my FLSTC. Burly sells a kit which will lower the front forks 2 whole inches and the shocks included in the kit lower the *** a full 2 1/2". the kit is called Burly Slammer Kit. Testimonials from the co. website all say the bike handles much better since installation. And we all know lower is meaner lookin. any feedback welcomed.
I didn't want to lower the bike even though I have a 28" inseam. I sent my seat to Mean City Cycles (www.meancitycycles.com ) and did the standard 2" drop. I didn't like the SGS Premium Ride Hand-Adjustable Rear Shocks so I installed a pair of 12" JRI A's. I believe the 12" JRI A's provide over an inch more stroke than the stock shocks. I am very happy with the performance and haven't bottomed out even riding 2-up. I worked with Howard at http://www.motorcyclemetal.com. My feet are flat on the ground now.

Used the progressive kit in the forks...dropped it 2". Air ride on the rear allows me to be flat footed when in town..Air up for hard riding and adjust for passenger. 5k miles on air ride and 2k miles on forks with zero issues. Handles great.
29 inch inseam. Progressive 940 shocks in the rear and drop in lowering springs in the front.
Dropped the front almost 2 inches. I really don't think I'd lower the rear much more than it already is. Dropping the front made a huge difference for me.
I also ran a Mustang Low Down seat that lowered me some.

You're bike looks really good! But be very careful running it without the engine guard, dropping it could get expensive.
