I was thinking of buying the 4 point docking hardware and having the rear 2 docking points milled off and then re powder coating it black since all I need once in a while is a backrest when my wife takes a ride . just to clean up the look when the back rest is not on . good idea or not? please let me know
Dang . . . maybe (ok, I am) getting old but I swear they used to sell a 2-point kit. I always got the 4-point to maximize flexibility, but I looked and looked and nuttin'. Agree the 4-point kinda sticks out like a sore thumb but I liked the flexibility. Dang that's a lotta work to clean it up.

They did have a 2-point docking kit. But not for the '14 and up.
The older style won't fit the '14 and up models either.
Looks like maybe they dropped the 2-point for earlier models too, as I don't see it listed anymore.
I like the 4-point...I can put the wife's backrest and still put a luggage rack on....I don't think many are going to think about the 2 extra points on somebody else's bike....Plus you might need them someday...
