Default XM

I have it on my bike & in my car and love it! I find reception is no better or worse in either. There are a few dead spots as others have noted, behind hills etc. but for the most part I get great reception most of the time.

I predominantly listen to Country and Classic rock and I cannot get either of our local country stations at home, only when I head east. I've also realized how much I hate our local rock stations too... My playlists are getting old and even though I have the XM app on my phone and can stream it from my phone, it always cuts out at the worst time.

After the new year I'll be putting the module in the bike and playing lets make a deal with XM...

Kind of off topic but just my 2 cents worth.

The advent of music applications on smartphones makes XM old technology for me. I can set custom stations on Pandora by genre, artist, etc... I can then thumbs down music I don't care for and it isn't played again. Conversely, I can thumbs up music I like and the station is custom tailored to my preferences.

Is this for everyone? Certainly not. Coverage can be a drawback obviously and I keep an IPOD hooked up for those conditions.

Again, just my 2 cents.

thanks Rob.

I like the idea of loading music on a thumb drive.

I have streaming problems on my iPhone 4s when I'm running the North Shore of Long Island. Always seems to stop streaming when I'm on the highway too...

i agree, that services like pandora radio offer a better experience - and at just $4 a month.

however, i added XM to my RGS - as often I am wondering around secluded mountain roads away from civilization (no cell coverage). The XM never misses a beat, while those using cell phones are left with what is loaded on their device.

I also have a thumb drive with 12gb of music loaded on it - but, i tire of the same songs i've been listening to the last 20 years so XM is nice because it will spoon feed me music as well.

I wish XM had a new country station, that's my only gripe... Oh and I'd definitely take "Red, White & Booze" on the regular radio, not just web/app.

What 2 Country stations do we have? I've listened to the 94 one (.7, .3?) but I didn't know of another. Classic rock, 104.3, that's about it for me. I have 3 subscriptions and I've worked them so they all renew at the same time, a little bargaining power when I call to renew. I usually pay around $300 plus or minus a few for the three, I'm happy with $100 a year each. I might eventually get the module put in, we'll see. Looking for one of our local dealers to run some kind of winter special and I'll get the lighted buttons installed, MAYBE the module too. Wife and I just came back from 3 weeks up and down the East Coast (in the truck) and the XM was nice to have.
