Hope you dont mine me asking these questions but I want to make sure I do this right. I had the same VINERR message on my Dyna but I never changed the guages. My bike also hesitated at startup when it displayed the VINERR message. Any hesitation on startup? Thanks in advance. Those guages are sharp.

Looks Great!!!

i Installed Dakota Digital and it does marry itself to the bike through the "BMC" i would assume. I guess another thing is this Odometer will sync up automatically but mine was off by a bout 10-15 miles at stock one pulled at 3131 the New DD showed 3143 when initially plugged in (you can correct within the first 100 miles)

..Yes i know my Volts is 11.8 i was playing around with the lights and Radio..

The VINERR code typically means the VIN doesn't match what's in the speedo memory. However, I do see a case in these forums where a ThunderMax caused this issue. Don't know if it may be related to your specific situation, but with your bike hesitating at start-up, perhaps it could be.

Looks great! What are the differences between the CVO and Limited gauges? Looking at pics online, the only difference that stands out to me is the bar and shield logo on the speedo.

I think the face plates are different color and the back lighting is different making the CVO easier to see.

Limited Gauges

CVO Gauges

Only differences I see are the little badge logo, and the odometer background color. I think the Limited may look "brighter" at night, but i'm not sure. In the pic, the CVO gauge is in Km/h not mph, but the US one looks the same:

Thanks, definitely not enough difference to change what I have on my Limited! I really like the three different lighting levels on the Limited gauges, which depends on the amount of ambient light. I wonder if the lighting levels transfer to the SG's. If so, I may put them on my wife's SG.

Yeah, there isn't much reason to change if you have a limited. Biggest thing a lot of people don't care for on the SG or SGS (RG and RGS as well) is the silver/grey and how it's not as easy to read in the daylight. For me, it's the fact that it's not as goood looking as the CVO gauges, and I hate the amber backlighting.

I changed mine out a couple of weeks ago. Sturdyke is about the cheapest I found. I think it was 421.00 or so. Totally changed the look of the dash and daytime riding was mo better!

I had a similar problem when I switched gauges with a member here about a year ago. What I have found out about the gauges is that the gauges lock to the BCM at 30 miles. So, I think it should be possible that if both bikes are under 30 miles, you should be able to swap customs with ultra gauges. If even one of the bikes are over 30 miles, they will both get VINERR codes. The best time if you wanted to swap with someone is before that point. After that, you have to buy new gauges.
