That's my philosophy exactly. I like to keep my bike clean (not constantly) and well maintained. But not in show condition by any means. Some bikes are more show bikes and I love to look at them. I'm interested in the '17 Limited in charcoal and black denim. Looks fantastic to me.

Passenger boots/pants rubbing on it will cause this to happen - essentially 'polishing' the surface. I have that on my bike already after my wife has only been on the back for 700 miles.

And, as you said, Denim is supposed to wear. HD points out in the owner's manual that is supposed to wear and fade like real denim. The way I read it, it isn't for the hardcore clean freaks that can't stand a blemish.

I'll say that with 25k miles on mine, with plenty of two up touring, I have very few shiny spots so far. In one case, on the saddle bag lids, I had something strapped to the bike and it rubbed for 750 miles. Doh! That said, it doesn't bug me.

I agree 100%. I have a 2015 RG in denim black...easy to clean. I'd rather spend time riding than cleaning. Previous bike was gloss black...took much longer to clean and then wax
