Question Sirius module install

I'll be getting a '15 Limited next month and I'm considering having the Sirius satellite radio upgrade module installed before I take delivery ($500 installed).

Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody here has had this module installed and, if so, would like to hear their impressions regarding its performance, advantages, problems - if any etc.

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

JP

First off make them install it free. $500 is too much. You only have to take the outer fairing off to install it. The whole job took 15 min tops.

To answer your question, I love the module and only lose reception in a couple of spots I live in SoCal so YMMV.

I have it on my SG and i lose signal in the mountains and tree covered roads while traveling. But for the most part its great. Id say 99% of the time its flawless and better then channel surfing while traveling. I dont use the jump drive or my phone for music.

That's where I got mine. About a 10 minute install. I love it!

Just a note for clarification. The OP referred to a Sirius module. The module in the Kutter link above is an XM module. The difference is small but there is a difference.

I had Sirius in my truck and switched to an aftermarket head unit. when I went to switch my plan over to the new receiver, the cost increase was a little shocking to say the least.

The module for the Rushmores is a Sirius/XM module. It's the only one that works and it does both. It's a great module. Either way it's a 10-15 min install. Don't pay the dealer $500.

Sirius and XM joined forces in 08. Same company now.

"The companies proposed to merge in February 2007, and after more than a year of lobbying, debating and numerous filings, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved the merger on July 25, 2008. Like equal parts Pepsi and Coke, the companies have combined their business operations to form Sirius XM Radio, the only satellite radio service consumers in the United States can access."

It may say Sirius/Xm, but it will only work on the Xm satellite. If you were a Sirius subscriber before, get ready for a little sticker shock.

The Xm module I put in my truck worked great as well and was the only choice also. But it forces previus Sirius subscribers to the more expensive Xm subscription.

Just to be clear, the module is $400 & $90 to install it. If the dealer does it before I take delivery of the bike, it will be covered by the 2-year std. bike warranty and, apparently, also by an extended warranty if I get one.

Actually, I'm gonna push for the whole thing for free when I'm negotiating for the bike.

Many thanks to you and all for the responses,

JP
