If you keep and eye out, napa ran a sale last year in March and you could get a 7" LED truck lite for like $170 with a lifetime warranty. A lot more expensive than just a few bulbs, but far less than you'll pay for a true LED from Harley and much better light output than just an LED bulb in the factory lens. Just gotta build a harness to get to an H4 connection and it plugs in no prob. Just a thought in case you haven't heard of the swap. I get a lot of compliments on mine. The light when off has almost a black lens look, and it works worlds better than stock when riding.
I got my TL from NAPA on sale for $160+tx. Keep in mind that you will either need to modify the stock harness or buy a replacement harness for $20 through HD. I ordered mine before taking anything apart and had I know that the stock harness is only about 6" long and then goes into another connector, i would have just modded the stock one.
Whatever you do, be sure to properly aim the new headlight, it makes a huge difference especially with an LED.
I have replaced both High and Low beam with 6000K LED bulbs I got on Amazon. The come with a Ballast similar to HIDs and a cooling fan on the bulb itself. They seemed a little brighter, but at night they weren't reflecting like i thought. The stator in the bike does not produce enough power for them. I just spent the $425 and got the Daymaker
H11 is the low beam.
The H9 has an extra tab and if that tab is ground down (takes about 10 seconds with a dremel) an H9 can be used in place of H11, FWIW.
I ordered PIAA Extreme White H9 & H11 Lamps off of Amazon. Plug & play no problems. I paid approx 80.00 for the pair and there is no comparison to stock. Much brighter than stock.
i had a hard time finding both a H9 and H11 at the local AutoZone. You say two H11's can be used? is there a down side to replacing the H9 with a H11?
Only thing that would concern me with doing the dual high beam bulbs is the amperage draw. It has to be brighter but also has to raise draw. I'm sure there is some over engineering in the system but how much?
