When I was looking at the 14 RK ,I wanted blue,it's my favorite color. All they had in stock was blue/blk two tone or Amber whiskey and silver. My wife really liked Mysterious red. The dealer traded their Am/Wsk for a red one, I couldn't be happier !
I went back and forth several times on color before I got my 14UC. A point was made to me that any color goes with black and I could use the couple thousand I save on color to put into performance. I used a little money for powder coat and pinstriping and I think I have an origianl looking bike... with a vivid black foundation. Pic in the Sig line.
BTW, my car is Tuxedo Black or whatever they call it with flakes in it. Looks great when it's clean, but by the time I get it home I can't see the flakes anymore because of the dust.
I'd go with your first choice over black. I'll be the first to admit that a clean black hot rod, bike. etc with chrome is a great look that's timeless. However, if you're only thinking of the color because of how it looks in the sun, it's going to look pretty standard black the majority of the time.
As he said above, I've had the Ford Tuxedo black, and now the Jeep equivalent on my new Cherokee--both looked awesome in the sun, but they're really just plain black the rest of the time.
Black magic is a cool color and really pops in the sun.......however...........I can't get passed the graphics they put on it. Deal breaker for me. But that's why they have different colors, go with your gut.

It is kind of frilly and pink...
I was looking at that color for my wife.

He never mentioned black. The color is Black Magic, which is, ironically, not black....
More of a steel grey/blue
