Thats pretty much what I was after. I cut my stock one shorter and routed everything different. It worked well enough - slightly less reception but still good - then decided on the hidden fairing antenna as it seemed the stock one was fading more than I wanted. Then all these issues started.

Took bike in for the clutch recall - they tested the head unit - needless to say the warranty is covering a new radio..will be installed in the next couple of weeks.
