I did 10" but now I wish I would have done 12". If you can sit on someone's ride that has different sizes I would try that to hp figure it out. I am 5'9" and 10" feel good but I think 12" would be better for me. It's personal preference. Depends if you want your hands over the fairing or deleting your fairing mirrors etc.

I put on 12'' Yaffe classic bagger bars.. Completed the project in just over 2 hrs.. Didnt have to remove the clutch or brake lines, just had to cut a few zip ties behind the fairing.

So it sounds like it's realatively easy at what height are clutch, brake, throttle cables required? I've read 12's your fine and any higher than that it maybe needed?

This is going to be my first project on my SG also....not looking forward to the wiring and praying that 12's don't need an extension...hoping to tackle it in the next few weeks.

Anything up to 14" you should not have to replace hyd lines. HD left plenty in the fairing, must pop a couple of zip ties and move them where you need.

Wire extensions are all plug and play.

Fairing from comes off much easier than past designs.

Biggest pain will be fishing the wires through the bars depending on what you decide on. Yaffe are probably the hardest, but still an afternoon job.

I did 12". Even pulling the wire through wasn't that hard. In fact, I got to do it twice. Something about right switches on the left side and vice-versa.

You are going to need extensions for the switch wires. The stock wires will make it through the bar without extensions but they only come out of the bottom by an inch or two. Throttle wire should be okay but I extended mine anyway. I ordered all the extensions from namz at the same time.
