Great thread with a lot of information.
Also have a SGS and my foot gets caught under the MOCO Brake Leaver.
I have been looking at this option for the immediate future.
But one question...
If there are lowers installed (considering that), will the +2 have issues from the lowers?

Thanks to the OP for the detailed pictures and all the follow up correspondence.

I just ordered a softbrake last night and Carl told me that on my limited I can't even run a +1 because of the lowers. I was pretty bummed, but he assured me the angle of the softbrake is much better and actually moves it forward a bit from stock. We will see......

Mello,

He's right about the length when having lowers.

So glad I changed over to the Softbrake. It was my first complaint when I found out you could no longer adjust the brake lever position on the Rushmores. I had to take my foot completely off the footboard and lift it unusually high just to use the stock brake lever. Once your foot is off the footboard you have a dangerous situation when attempting to stop.

Thanks, yeah that angle looks a lot better. I just put the 1 inch extended floorboards on so we will see how they work with the softbrake. Before I could slide my toe under the brake to reach the front. With the new brake and extended boards I may not be able to get there.

It seems to make sense, that if you have extended boards and use the +1, you would basically be back close to stock configuration, sort of. So with extended boards, the +2 sounds about right.

yes. i'll say it again for the record: +2 if you have forward extended boards.

just got off the phone with carl miles. very understanding, nice conversation. i'll spend another few minutes today removing the softbrake, packing it back up, and sending it back to the warehouse. they'll send the +2 when they receive this one.

EDIT:
here is a photo of stock vs +2. i wear a 10.5 boot and i have kury floorboard extenders bringing it forward and out 1".

I asked Service when I took mine in for 1K, if they could move the brake as it's a PITA stock. No, it doesn't adjust like pre-Rushmore brakes. WTH? Lady in Parts said Harley wants to control everything and they are creating stuff that can't adjust and changing every two years so you have to buy 'aftermarket' from them. Are any of you riding '15 RKs? You guys are doing this upgrade yourselves? The head Parts guy at my dealer says this is not a DIY change due to 'mumbo jumbo tech speak'. Is this really as simple as unchucking the allen bolt and putting on the new lever and tightening it back up?

I have a 2014 SGS and if the RK is anything like the SGS, it is easy to change out. The clevis pin is a bit of a pain to remove, but start to finish with some time for some swearing it took me about 30 minutes.

I just had the shop do the +1 because it was already in there for the clutch recall. I later swapped it out for the +2 myself. It's pretty basic stuff, the hardest part for me was the cotter pin to the master cylinder plunger, but that's just cause it's kind of hard to get to.

Don't know how hard the RK one would be, but it's not like you have to get into the master cylinder or bleed the brake line.

Here's a video for the upgrade on a softtail:
