Spend 20 to 30 nights a year in the hotels and went to quite few rallies never had any issue just lock every thing and set the alarm. This will be 18th time for my friend and 6th for me in Sturgis and we aren't worry about any thing.

Was at the dealership today- guy came in - has a new bike and says he needed two new saddlebags, leather coat, rain suits, tool kit and a few other things.

Last night, someone took his saddlebags and everything inside. Said the bags were not locked - so, all the guy had to do was twist to bolts and walk off.

Just another reminder for me to lock my bags.

I never really thought about someone stealing the bags. There won't be much in there of any real value but I would hate to have them stolen. Lot's of good advice and I appreciate everything. Like I said once in Sturgis I'm not too worried. I usually ride with a guy that has a Bourget's chopper so I figure if anything is stolen it's going to be on his bike. It gets a lot of attention.

I stay in hotels regularly. I just lock up the bike and forget about it. I have insurance for a reason.

And, this. I time my vacation to get there right at the end of the rally. Grab my rally and MDA donation pins, official t shirt or cap and I'm in the wind.

From what I have been hearing, the motels and hotels are all sold out unless you got it early. I'm riding up there too, buying a shirt, and getting the hell outa there! There is going to be hundreds of thousands of people there this year..

Last I saw was a prediction for 1.2 million plus.

I lock the bike but have never worried about security during the rally. I've left a nice jacket bungied to bars and had no issues.

Like others have posted, if someone really wants your bike it will be gone regardless of the security you have.
