A lot of things the MOCO does makes no rational sense at all. This is just one of countless examples of their skewed-logic.

Most likely because I'm too lazy to do any real research on the Syn3. Lol
The 3 holes each do different jobs, I don't see where one oil will do each justice. I'm probably wrong but I feel better with redline and that's good enough for me.

You're right, my bad!! Think I'll give the Redline a go, I was tempted as Skieverything does and put Formula+ in the primary and Redline Shockproof in the Tranny, but I'll go Redline in both and SYN3 in the motor, as I can't get Mobil 1 VT over here in the UK

Thanks for your input guy's

Yeah, what does this start-up company know about motorcycles, motor oil in the trans how dare they; they won't stay in business very long... LOL.

Something to ponder, reading some of the comments, I find that most people think like I do, I pay $18K for a Roadking and why does it still have clunky air shocks, and shifters that fall off, and on and on. The debate between the oils have me thinking "why?" I am thinking that when the MoCo ****'s developed or had someone develop the Syn3 for the engine, some brilliant engineer said "Lets see what it will do in the tranny".. and then he was like, "Hell, we aint building nothing new, lets throw it in all 3 holes. " I am just going to suppose that when they did test it, they found it "adequate" for the trans, and no more damage than normal in the primary so they said to marketing. "Sell the Hell out of it and state that it works in all 3 holes" Well, I am not the lazy type just to buy all the same oil for convenience, and go on someones word that it will work. Being a mechanic, I am like a lot of people on this thread, that there are specific requirements for all 3 different mechanical devices. I therefore will be putting in Syn3 in the motor, Shockproof in the trans, and something different in the primary.. not sure what yet. Still have 1500 miles to decide. By the way, I got a tip if you order from Eastern Performance, ask for x 202 and tell Pat that Rick told you to call, might get a discount.

I used Mobil1 75W90 in the tranny of my '08 Heritage with satisfying results. I also used Mobil1 20W50 V-Twin in the Primary and motor. Great oil without questions. Did the clunk go a way? No, 'cause was a Harley. Sometimes the clunk was louder then the next time, but it was always present. Now, in my new 2015 SGS I switched to the same brand after the break-in. Then I went on a 2K mile trip. After 500 miles on the interstate the tranny got unnerving loud that I became very concerned. The clunk was louder than ever before. Even when I downshifted. Finally I stopped at a HD-dealership and the expert behind the counter recommended Syn3, which I replaced the 75W90 with. Immediately right after, the bike shifted normally again and the clunk was only present in first gear. If anybody claims he got rid of the clunk entirely, by switching to a such-and-such oil I simply won't buy it. Does it get quieter? Yes, perhaps, but not gone completely. I will give the Shock Proof a chance at my next oil change, so I can make up my on opinion.

I added Redline to my primary on my 15 SGS on my 1k service. Noticed right away that my primary was louder then before. My primary always seemed to be loud but With Redline it was even louder. I switched to Formula + and now it's quieter then ever.
