Chicago to louisville, for the kentucky borboun tour. Great trip, bike performed flawlessly. Only issues I had was the harley headsets are not very high quality. When vox adjusted low wind wouldn't cut out, when set higher wind cut out music continuously. If vox was low wife had to scream to talk to me. Gonna invest in some j&m headsets. Never had an issue with them. The other was the nav, even after creating and downloading my route from trip planner, thing kept trying to direct me to interstate instead of route I planned out. Those of you who recommended harley rain gear thanks, very expensive at $400 for both our sets along with Nelson rigg boot covers but it kept us warm and totally dry through some heavy rains.
gonna take a week to get the road grime off, can I power wash this two wheelsd beast?
Were you using the bike's speakers for the music when trying to use the intercom? I've found that the music must also be routed through the headsets or else the intercom causes the music to pop in & out.
If you power wash, try to stay away from the wheel bearings & dash area.
My HD headset works great. When I talk on the phone no one knows I'm on my Harley going down the road at highway speeds. Something is not adjusted right or you have a bad set. Take it back to the dealer. It has warranty.
Sounds like a great trip and you got to use the gear and it worked.
If i felt i had to power wash i would wrap plastic around/over the electronics in side covers and under the seat. Also would protect the Infotainment system the same way.
I would use a wide spread nozzel to reduce concentrated pressure and stand off a considerable distance, only spraying the grimy parts.
Preferably i would follow the directions of using a good cleaner, still protect the electronics and use a garden hose.
I'm on my 3rd bike with the intercom, I've always just turned the VOX off and used the PTT button. Beats the hell out of trying to change the VOX settings every time something changes.
