Default Intake Question

I bought a 2016 Street Glide special. The dealer is installing the Rinehart 4" slip-ons prior to deliver (Saturday) I called them to have them add the Screaming eagle intake while they had it there and was told that they would have to add in the command module in order to reprogram the ecm. That was going to boost the cost from $400 to $1200 (WOW) Is this necessary? What's my best alternative? I installed the V&H fuelpak on my other bike when I replaced the exhaust and intake at the same time. Does the FP3 support this even if I don't replace the head pipes with the cats? I was planning on doing the head pipe replacement over the winter. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, FP3, PV, will work fine. Bunch of others out there as well.

If all you are doing is changing slip ons and intake and not the headers you shouldn't have to tune the bike with anything at this point , when you change the headers you will.
I ran with a 2-1 exhaust with a stock intake for awhile while I saved for a PV and open air intake. Dealer installed and no problems with bike at all.

I did a set of Vance & Hines Monster Rounds, Arlen Ness Big Sucker Air Cleaner and the Vance & Hines FP3 and the bike runs great. Better than stock and it ran good stock.

The dealer is talking about a stage 1 tune. The FP3 will give you that and a better tune for less money. Then, when you get your header you'll already have the FP3 and you can change the tune accordingly with their canned map for your pipes and header configuration. You can then auto tune that map to dial it in even better. It's seriously a no brainer.

FP3 is the way to go!!! Simple, easy and affordable. No need to waste money on dyno time etc.

Less than 10 minutes to install and you will notice the improvement

I would not agree that a dyno tune is a waste of money. I have tried several tuners over the years with canned tunes but it never ran anywhere near as good as it has with a dyno tune. The trick is finding a good dyno tech.

Yes you should get a tuner the fp3 is a good value and works well, and good support from V&H. They are constantly making Improvments and updates and the tuner will autotune as you add other performance parts cams included..
