rode the stock pipes(with a de-catted header) for almost 20K miles--changing this winter for just a little more oomph---SuperTrapps and new intake should do the job
I ran Rinehart true duals since 06 and loved the sound, but after 3 ultras, and not being able to hear the radio, I finally traded for a 14 Roadking. Put the true duals on that. After 7000 miles I got tired of keeping my left leg up so it won't lay against the left pipe, and switched to V&H power duals. Since the 2" inlet Rineharts won't fit, a buddy had a pair of stock CVO mufflers. Man, what a difference in sound and vibration. I do miss the sound but not that much. I've decided to try Fulsac 2" baffles and homemade screens with 1 round of insulation. Most people on the forums say this setup has great sound and not too loud. If it is, I can easily slip out the baffles and add more insulation until it is perfect for me.
BTW, anyone have 2" baffles for sale that works on CVO mufflers?
I love the decatted pipe and stock mufflers with tuner.
Some say there is little difference in sound after decatting but I beg to differ. The sound is right for me and gets louder as miles get put on like all mufflers so think about that. Nothing quieter than your stock setup.
I have to ask, these people that say their bike is so quiet they don't know what gear their in?? LOL!!!
If that it is what you want go with it, the positive your bike will be different than everyone else's. I have always said if a rider wants a bike set apart from others keep it stock.
Got a 2016 SGS and intend to leave stock mufflers on.I will put a decat head pipe on for the heat reduction.I have enough problem hearing the 6.5 infotainment box now and don't want to make it worse.Nothing worse than someone with loud aftermarket mufflers that have to turn the sound clear up so they and the whole world can hear it going down the road.
I have a 2015 RG with stock exhaust. I figure to spend 1200 bucks or so to do it completely right with a new exhaust system...... why spend that to make my own ears ring. no thanks I am fine with the stock system and being able to hear my radio.
If you do not care about the Warranty - get ride of the Cats - lots of positive reasons to dump them - The will or will not effect the warranty is heavily debated here - Me, I just added some slip-ons and be done with it... So far the Heat has not been an issue with me,,,, - contact me next year at this time for an update - LOL
