Still can't get used to TBW, but cruise control is worth putting up with it. Too bad the 6 speed still doesn't have O.D. I suppose that will come out to get everyone to "upgrade" to the new Rushevenmore models...

Did realize that. The final drive ratio is 2.87 and calculating that, shows it is 1:1 in 6th gear.

Primary Chain Drive 34/46 = 1.35:1
Secondary Belt Drive 32/68 = 2.13:1
Final Drive = 1.35 x 2.13 = 2.87:1

My Road King 5 speed had a final ratio of 3.15:1. If I added a 6sp OD trans, it would have been 3.15 x .89 = 2.80:1

Will it roast you even with the advanced cooling of the Limited? That's the first time I've heard this. Most of the Limited guys adamantly state that they are comfortable, even riding "all day long in stop and go traffic."

Stock mufflers, love the look and the sound. You never know how bad a muffler sounds until you ride behind someone with loud pipes. Your friends will thank you for staying stock.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me, stock exhaust is as ugly as it gets. Stock = too hot, too lean, and doesn't remotely sound like a Harley. I'm not a fan of ear blasting loud pipes but the bike has to have some soul.

maybe its me but my pipes seem to have gotten louder as they aged. i have about 4500 miles on my '14 ultra classic and the wife even asked what i did to the bike cuz its louder now than when i bought it. its not like im running staright pipes or anything but its definitely louder. maybe the fiberglass packing is getting compressed somehow?

I like the idea of changing out the headers and leaving the stock cans. While I have already done mods on both my RG I think I would have been pleased with V&H Power Duals and the stock cans or some other header change for one of my tourers. I wouldn't be comfy cutting out the cat on the stock headers and welding the pipes back together.

If you are a true touring rider that rides the bike long distances I think you'll appreciate staying with stock mufflers. Some of us have touring bikes but hardly ride more than a couple hundred miles on weekends and commute relatively close to work. I admit that I'm so far a touring poser. While I would love to go on plenty of long distance rides 2 UP so far, I'm working most of the time and don't get the chance to ride that way nearly as much as I'd like. My point here is that modifying your stock exhaust should be a consideration primarily determined by your riding style on that bike. This is why some of us have multiple bikes so that we can enjoy different types of riding. In most cases people have one bike and have to trade-off and find the right balance to meet their preferences. With that stated a one bike owner might also find themselves swapping setups frequently or trading bikes often.

At least you are blessed with one of life's finer decisions when it comes to how to customize your ride. It's just another benefit of motorsport ownership as if two wheeling wasn't a blessing in its own right...

I am happy with stock pipes. I like the sound they are mild but have a nice note.

I thought the same thing. It lasted about a month...lol.

Granted the stock exhaust on the newer bikes sounds better than ever (stock).

They are the ONLY tunable exhaust (others have copied). They WORK very well as far as HP goes, and you can make them as loud or as quiet as you want in a matter of minutes!

Go to a flattrack race some day (XR750s) and see how many Harley tuners have chosen to use Supertrapp.....its because THEY WORK!!

I will only use the ST stuff, and I have had em ALL!!!
AMA rules 105 db per SAEJ1287 on exhaust. Read appendix d on the testing procedure, i'm surprised they can get any muffler to pass without using a car sized muffler,LOL. ST is probably the only one that will pass and make any hp without being too big and heavy.

Dang... glad to finally know the math behind the final drive ratio... but what are the ratios made up from? Tooth counts? If so, which teeth (what gears, sprockets, etc.)?
