Guess HD engineers didn't have you in their minds when they engineered the high end braking system.

"Normal" is subjective. LOL What's normal for me may not be normal for you. I have had my ABS activate as I am blasting up/down mountain highways. What I'm saying is everyone has differing riding styles and conditions and the ABS reacts accordingly.

I believe ABS is designed to look at both wheel speeds and applied brake pressure to begin an "ABS event" before the wheels lock up or traction is lost. If you go to a parking lot you can practice "panic stops" and never hear the tires chirp. At least that is my experience.

Great info.

I just put new tires on my bike - had 20,000 miles on them and paid a pretty penny for them ($600 installed).

How many miles can one expect if they do burnouts?

Actually on these Rushmore's, the ABS has a HUGE impact on stopping. I have never liked ABS on anything. However, on these bikes it's a huge plus in stopping power. I think when the ABS started flashing, it also stops the brakes from being linked. I know when I hit the rear brake, it locked the tire up when normally it would just about throw you over the handlebars if you wasn't careful.

All is good now. I shut the bike off, and started and went to see what was messed up from one burnout.. it reset itself.
