Had my Ultra up on one from Harbor Freight all afternoon. Also used this same jack back when I had my Road King. No problems with it and the hydraulics held just fine.

You have to remember, you are storing/working on a $25,000 vehicle… Is the $300 difference in price of the jack even worth parsing out when you consider how much better the J&S unit is? For strength, safety, usability… Not to mention made in USA: J&S jack's all the way!
Yep, there is no question in what you say, J&S, Pitbull are bad a$$ jacks and are worth the money, stability/maneuverability/welds/material will be a lot better on either one of those lifts.

The weld quality makes a big difference. That's where the "made-in-USA" factor really shines IMO. That, and the overall quality of the hardware.

I have a Sears life - had it for over 10 years and it still works to lift my bike. I will say that the safety straps are wearing and need to be replaces. Also, the wheels seems to get a little rusty. Still, like some others, I use mine just for cleaning, etc.

Speaking of safety straps, I don't see any on the Pit Bull. Am I missing something?

I can't speak for the pitbull but after owning there stuff for years on my sport and sport touring bikes they make top notch stuff so I can't see where they wouldn't be as good as a J&S.

That being said unless you are ripping the entire front end off or yanking the rear swing arm you don't need straps. The jacks are rock solid. You can use them if you want but even with the jack as high as it will go. Removing wheels does not reqiuire straps.

I have a Complete Hydraulics table lift. Works great for most work but I have been looking at a Pitbull or J&S for when I need to remove wheels or do an oil change. The table lift is great but inconvenient for removing wheels and it's hard to get underneath the bike for oil changes. Especially on my wife's Deluxe.

Keep those reviews coming on the J&S and Pitbull.

Another +1 for the Craftsmen red lift. Been holding up heavy cruisers for 8 years and now I have my '14 Limited resting on it for the winter. Have removed rear wheel with no problems without tie down straps if you balance it correctly. Great price, greay quality.

My bike is pretty balance on the lift - however, when I begin to clean and rotate the front wheels, I can feel it bobble up and down. The same apples when I take the bags off.

It is for this reason that I use the straps. On the Pit Bull, I see the picture of the guy and girl sitting on the bike while it is in the air - doesn't not look like there are any tie downs - and I was just curious. Perhaps the span is that much wider than my lift?

J&S has a video of a guy sitting on the front fender ona bike on their jack. I was at the Progressive MC show last year and the guys at the J&S booh were doing the same. No need for tie down straps either, the jack is so solid they are not necessary. There are tie down points on the jack, but I've never felt the need to use them.
