Default Bluetooth Reception TOO GOOD!!!

I can't believe how far the Bluetooth works on these Rushmores!

I was riding the Cherohala Skyway and stopped at an overlook. Wife and I took some pics and as we were getting ready to get back on the bike someone kindly offered to take a pic of us. Sure!!! I set my iPhone down on the ledge of the overlook and had our pic taken, then promptly got on the bike and started back down the road.

One of the things I *always* do is verify my phone has synced with the bike before I get rolling in case I need to re-enable Bluetooth on the phone. It was, so on I went.

After a bit, XM started cutting out because of the trees. No problem, just switch over to my phone. Did so with no issues. Music is playing and all is good.

After a bit more, I noticed the music was cutting in and out every now and then. I thought it odd because the phone was only a few feet away from the radio. No big deal, just switched back to XM for the remainder of the way.

Got to my hotel and couldn't find my phone!!!! Wife calls it and someone answers. WTH!!! Turns out I left it on the ledge of that pull-out and they picked up the phone with intention of taking it to an AT&T store to mail it back to me.

What's amazing is that I was able to stay synced to it and play music while it was in their car somewhere behind me. They left well after we did, but were traveling the same direction on the same road. If I hadn't been able to play the music I would have done a quick check and hauled *** back, lol.

Just thought I would share ...

MOT

Oh, and because without a pic it never happened ...

Is it the bike or your phone? I have the same problem if I forget to turn off the remote bluetooth in my truck, it stays connected even though I take the phone into the house. If someone phones it only rings in the truck.

I'm sure the phone is part of the deal. I was just surprised and now I have to physically check before I roll out, lol.

Are you sure you weren't playing music off your wife's phone? If you left that much in time before they did, they would have to be relatively close to you for your phone to pick up your bike. Bluetooth does not have a far range. Certain bluetooth headsets act as a chain so that you can talk to riders behind you, but phones don't work like that.

You can test this by leaving the phone at your house and see how far away from your house before it cuts out. I'd be shockec if you got more than a a few houses away and it still work. I'd honestly be surprised if it worked more than 1 house away.

I am positive it wasn't my wife's phone. Her phone isn't synced with my bike, and I would know if it was her music, rofl.
