This is my 3rd Ultra so I know how to set the intercom up. Been using one since 2007. This is my first Infotainment system. Question is has anyone experienced this. We will ride for an hour or so and everything is fine, then my wife's system just quits. We can stop and mess with it and sometimes get it to work again. A lot of the times her volume will be turned clear down. Don't know if it's her plug in or if something else is up. Anyone else having trouble with theirs?
Make sure that the cable at the helmet end is secure. It may look like it is but push it in as tight as possible.
I agree with this the passenger catches the wind and have had problems with the cable. HD replaced one for me. Thought it was bad now I think it is just a problem with how they plug in. Used it for a trip from Fl. to Md and back. Had to mess with cable a few times each day.

I have found that when the rear cable is unplugged the volume levels goto 0 or close to it. When the bike is shut off
I've caught myself turning the radio volume down and something activates the intercom (like the wind or my wife singing) and when that happens I am then turning down the intercom volume instead of the radio volume, it has happened more than once. The next time it happens activate the intercom and get her to turn her volume up while it's activated.
Ok Thanks guys. I know when I check it her volume is turned way down. But I don't see how that happens. Can't shut her controls off because we use the PIT button to communicate.

If you're using the PTT button to communicate you're broadcasting over CB. If you set up the Intercom according to the manual you can disable her rear button to avoid function changes. This does not disable the Volume/PTT button. She MUST be listening to you talking via Intercom to set her Intercom volume. Whatever function is currently in use is what will be affected by the volume control. The volume must be adjusted separately for each function (CB/Int/Music) while that function is ACTIVE.
You can use the PIT button and not broadcast on CB. I don't use CB and it is set to off. And your correct and I do have that function shut off on her buttons. I also understand how to set the volume, but for some reason it gets turned down. Never had that problem on my 99 or my 12. In Iowa it difficult to get the vox set where it doesn't break open with the wind. It's always windy here. That's why we use the PIT.
