Use USB/Radio dongle for charging only?

2014 Limited. Occasionally I'll plug my iPhone 6 into the dongle to charge while riding. I have Pandora going on the phone and select the iPhone from the media menu. Pandora plays just like bluetooth. Interesting thing is it will show album art on the boom box screen playing Pandora when wired to the dongle. If I shut down Pandora it will play the music loaded on the iPhone.

Another inexpensive option would be to get a short, cheap charge-only USB cable. No data wires, power only. The bike USB port would only see it as a load. Computer or phone stores should have them.

Updates ???

Has anyone else had this issue?, I could play my iPhone 5s no problem thru the USB port last year and also had the album art on my infotainment screen, Apple has had updates to the phone over the winter and now I also get "no media found" on my screen when I plug in to USB port, it did not do this last year!!.

I'm listening to Amazon Prime Music in the shop
Plug phone in bike
Amazon Music stops
Music starts playing from Apple Music app
Open Amazon Prime Music
Click play
Music plays from Amazon
