Heat Sensor vs Thermostat
My bike has been in the shop for a week now. The fans never come on and it was puking coolant. At first they told me it was a heat sensor. Now they are saying its the thermostat. Starting to lose confidence in this dealer...
However, this week in the Black Hills of SD they have been running just about every time we stop (which with all the bike traffic here now is a lot).
Air temps in the upper 90's every day until today.
Bike has never skipped a beat or puked any coolant in over 11,000 miles.
This morning temps were in the low 60's and highs only in the upper 70's low 80's.
Fans never came on today.
Combination of cooler temps and possible not having as much sitting in traffic helps.
#21 - Thermostat - most likely a mechanical valve that controls the flow of the coolant. IIRC the valve would open at a set temperature and allow coolant to pass thru an opening in the valve.
#37 - Sensor, Coolant temperature - an electrical sensor that detects temperature most likely used to trigger another object similar to a switch
Just a suggestion: You might want to keep you cooling system related posts/questions together in one thread. It makes it easier to follow for most people.
