I could of sworn that when my bike went into "low fuel", with guage would switch to the distance to empty or "R" readout.
It quit that so long ago that I had forgotten it, or thought I imagined it till a buddy at the coffee shop had mentioned his quit doing that as well.
Kinda liked that feature.
what gives?
Mine has always went from R readout to low fuel , I believe around 20 miles remaining or so. I cycled back through the readouts to get the miles remaining after the low fuel
Just an FYI. It may not talk but it does tell you how many miles you have left until empty (at least my 16 RK does). When the low fuel idiot light comes on the display will show a letter (I think it is the letter R) with a number after it. That number is the miles remaining until empty. Mine is fairly accurate. It will come on when the tank is about 1 gallon from being bone dry and the number will be in the mid forties. I have never let it get down to zero before filling up but I have go into the low 20s. Once you fill up and the bike restarts, the remaining miles message goes away.

Yes we have the same bike,
scenerio:
cruising along, readout set to "clock" or whatever, idiot light comes on, the readout doesn't change over to "R", it used to, but it doesn't now.
like I said, it's not an issue, but it came up in conversation
