You may be onto something here, when the new road glides were released, I was hungry for a new bike, but deep down, didn't want to pay the piper. Something I'm my twisted brain said, no way, never, that's ugly. A year later I bought one, LOL!
Pretty big of you to admit that Bro, lots of folks wouldn't, thanks for your honesty! I remember back when the Rushmores first came out, LOTS of people bashing crap out of them, many are the same ones I see today sayin' how much they love their 14's and 15's and 16's...
Jpooch00 and GTK - thanks for your comments. That is the beauty of this site - we all get to express our opinions. I am not here to tick people off - simply express my feelings and when possible, help others with some questions/concerns they may have.
By the way, I think the 15 models are the ugliest bikes Harley has ever made. As a 15 owner, how does that make you feel. Now, I don't really believe that because your 15 looks just like my 14. Just imagine what you are saying to all of the new 17 owners. Again, if you don't like it - don't buy it.
As for proofreading - well, I probably won't do that. I am here for fun and hopefully the message gets thru. This is no different from when you wrote lookin' and intended to say looking. See, I knew what you meant - even when you typed luuuuuv your dinky bike - you were essentially overjoyed your love for the current bike you have. Still, I got the message.
I will continue to respect your opinion. Whether you respect mine or not - doesn't really matter to me. Post all you want - and I will never say your post is not necessary. If I find that is the case, I simply will not read it or respond to it.
jclax01 - congratulations on your new bike. I so hope you have a lot of good times and miles.
While I have not seen the bike yet, I have heard some great things about it. Folks that rode it say the suspension is upgraded even from the Rushmore models. I remember going from my 2014 to the Rushmore and think - wow, what a difference. If the new change is like that, then, I am excited about the 17s.
From what I've read, everybody really likes the upgraded suspension and torque.
Did the valve train stay silent even at op. temp? That would be nice.
Which model did you get?
I was kinda surprised that the shop I went to hadn't sold one yet.
there were two things noticeable off the bat. The engine torque was monsterous. it makes the 103 HO rushmore (what I traded in) look like a kitten. much much MUCH better engine power. I didn't notice any engine heat. there is a fan above the oil cooler that cools the fins. the handling is great. it would do better in the turns than I wanted to. I will adjust once I am more comfortable on the bike. I did not dial in the rear shock before I left the dealer last night. I'm getting her out today and will be doing my adjustments. another noticeable thing was the smaller primary. Its a big difference. the big clutch noise is gone. this thing shifts great and finding neutral is very easy. The clutch pull is very easy. I never noticed how hard my 15's clutch pull was, but its a very noticeable difference.
now with that said, none of the after market engine chrome thingies I bought with my 15 road glide would fit the new engine. Basically, they got stuck on the bike. The biggest disappointment was the exhaust. I had vance and hines monster ovals and they do not fit the new bike. the dealer told me that the pipes have different diameters. so until they come out with some new exhausts I am stuck with the stock mufflers.

Show respect, get respect. That's how it works. The opposite is also true.

I've seen your comments mirrored on other ride reports. Sounds like a great bike.
I assume that yours is one of the oil-cooled models. That also sounds like a good idea to get rid of the extra heat - simple and no water to leak etc.
I wonder if changing pipes, intake etc. will work out with the (supposedly) tamper-proof ECM? I may be misunderstanding that aspect of the new bikes, but it seems like it's been indicated that there's something different about the '17 ECM's.
Please continue to post your thoughts and experiences with your new ride.
