I'm luckier than I deserve, while riding I was rear ended today while stopped in traffic. I really got blasted, amazing how violent it was. Distracted driver said a bee flew into her vehicle. She's fine, I'm ok and the Bee is fine. Bike was towed I'll see how bad it is later and decide what's next. I really enjoyed that bike, however brief our time together was (April 2016 to present -ultra limited)- I really hate the idea of any issues after repairs.
make sure the police check her cell phone records to make sure it wasn't the buzzing of her phone that distracted her. my family knows to automaticly ask that in case i'm temporarely unable to
Glad you're OK. My greatest fear is distracted drivers running over me from behind. Whenever I slow down to turn or stop in traffic I keep a keen eye on my mirrors to make sure the cage driver behind me is paying attention. I always try to leave myself an exit strategy but, realistically, it isn't always possible. There's always that one situation where you have no way out. Glad to know you survived yours. The bike can be replaced. Hoping the distracted driver's insurance company makes it worth your while.
Like others, I'm glad you are OK. Also like others, have the cell phone checked as well. Yep, you can take care of the bike....fix or replace but the important thing is staying aware of your surroundings. When I am stopped at a light I keep an eye on my rearview mirror and begin "flashing" my brakes until I know they see me and will not be hitting me. Kinda like doing this...... Keep us posted on your situation.
I have been rear ended in every type of vehicle I have driven. Bicycle (That really hurt) motorcycle (Got bumped at the light, hand came off the clutch and I went into crossing traffic {eeek} my cars, trucks..etc. Glad you are ok, and I agree with everyone on watching the mirrors. While touring in Arkansas while sitting at a light in Hot Springs, I see a pick up truck behind me barreling towards me, I look both ways and open up the throttle, I hear screeching brakes and see her stopped right where I had been sitting. At the next light, she came roaring up, then started apologizing for what happened.
