Would you enlighten us as to what you're referring to?
My read of the post is that the OP would benefit from reading the audio section as there are options similar in cost to Hogtunes that will deliver better sound quality, but I could be wrong...
For the rear speaker pods, there's a number of options.
- Speakers which drop in the stock pods as-is
- Speakers which require a 1/2" extension ring
- Just about any 6.5" speaker will fit with the V-Twin extension rings.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the link to your thread. You mentioned a thread that haze started that was really helpful to you. Which thread in the Audio forums were you referring to? I read all 216 pages of the "Official 2014 Audio Upgrade" thread but not much discussion there on the use of Dynamat or the RCA cables you chose.

The Official 2014 Upgrade thread used to be a sticky, but most of the info in the first 200 pages is kinda outdated, so they dropped it as a sticky and let it fade into the depths of the pages.
A short thread which is Bertk's result of various speakers. He started with a Biketronics package (7.1 fairing speakers & Arc Moto 602's) which is what got me to bite on the same package. It's tried & true, but guys are always looking for more. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/audio...-speakers.html
I had Hog Tunes and was not happy at all with it and a friend had it and he lost 2 amps before returning the unit for full refund. He went back with a Rockford Fosgate set-up and it works very well.
Check with Bad Azz Bikers, they have a system that seems good and the money want break the bank.

I read through the whole thread so I would have some background on how we got to where we are today. Thanks for listing those threads specifically. There is SO much information in that forum that you really need someone like yourself to help newbies know where to start.

You are exactly correct. Some of us wished we had done that first!

This is the result of 8 months wasted on a Hogtunes setup. The front speakers were cutting out when I pulled the tourpak off, presumably when lacking all 4 speakers' load. When after eight months of troubleshooting this set up, they finally offered me a partial refund (less shipping), so I pulled it. They did mention waiting for an amp with a an updated power supply someday down the road, so I guess I was doing their R&D for them. In the end, they cost me a ton of time pulling the system apart a few times, doing videos, waiting on replies etc., then they made me destroy the stuff including 4 good speakers, not a feel good. You can see I broke a bit drilling through the amp as they requested...
I started out with a Hogtunes setup on my 2013 Ultra, but I really wasn't too impressed with the improvement over the OEM setup. I also went with a Rockford Fosgate amp and speakers. The setup a significant improvement, the only issues I had as a "novice" with electronics installs was the non plug and play approach. Cutting into the wiring harness requires alot of cable splicing.

I'm putting in a Biketronics setup now. I just wished I had done a bit more research first. I really had to chase those guys to get help and the inference always seemed to be that it was bike causing the problem. When I sent in a video of the charging at different rpms, that seemed to dispel that.
