Default Passenger Pegs

I almost exclusively ride solo. Every now and then, usually during a quick get away the passenger pegs ( while filliped up) nail me in the calf. Considering removing them altogether but it's comforting knowing that they are on the bike in case someone in our group has a mechanical failure and needs a lift back.
Anyone else have this happen to them on occasion? Are there different pegs/ mounts that don't stick out as far when flipped up?

"Winter" here, my mind is wandering!

I get that also with my Ultra occasionally especially when I have them down for passenger. I was just looking at the Street Glide / Ultra Low mounts and pegs verses the floor boards. Was thinking about converting over, if I can sell Momma on it, lol. Will be interesting to see what others chime in with here.

After a few good whacks, you learned to keep your feet a bit further out! Riding solo, well that's your choice to remove/replace them with something else. For two-up, I personally wouldn't remove the boards unless your typical rides aren't very long between stops. I ride gas tank to gas tank, and my Mrs would not be happy if there was very little room to move her feet around.

Take the pegs off and store in the saddlebag with the bolts and a wrench. Take a few minutes to put them on if someone wants a ride.

I've only had an issue when they are down. And like others have said, the ladies like them.

Swap the left and right sides. That's what I did and they're far enough back now where they don't get into my calf.

FWIW, states often have laws about the passenger needing foot pegs. So I would keep some kind of peg, unless you get a solo seat, too.

Happens to me too at times. Mainly when coming to a stop and I put my foot down just before at a complete stop. I catch my calf on it and at times it traps my foot against the pavement. Feels like Im going to dump the bike with foot wedged under the passenger footrest. I got in the habit of folding them up when walking the bike backwards, always hitting them then too
